Dunlap High School is part of a rapidly expanding school district in central Illinois. With an enrollment just under 1,100 students and a facility designed to handle about 600-700 students, sports equipment storage was tight. Many coaches resorted to storing athletic equipment and uniforms at their homes due to lack of space in the school or other buildings.
In 2011, Spacesaver launched the Rock UR Athletic Storage $30,000 makeover contest. Any U.S. K-12 school that entered the contest was required to submit a 100-word summary and photos of their current equipment storage.
Within a two-month span, 96 U.S. schools participated in the Rock UR Athletic Storage contest, covering 37 states, including Dunlap High School in Illinois.
Dunlap High School walked away with the grand prize. Today, Spacesaver's Wheelhouse mobile system stores athletic equipment for over seven of their sports teams. Customized end panels with the school's mascot is on full display in the school's gymnasium. Go Eagles!
